Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 26, 2026

This policy explains what data NativeEar collects, how it is used, and your rights. NativeEar is a Chrome extension that captures audio from Google Meet calls to extract English idioms, phrasal verbs, and slang for language learning.

1. What We Collect

Data you provide

Account information: your email address and password (or Google OAuth token) when you create an account.

Data collected automatically during use

  • Meeting audio (transient): When you start a recording session, audio from your Google Meet tab is captured and streamed to Deepgram (our transcription provider) in real time. Audio is never stored on our servers or on your device. Only the resulting text transcript is temporarily held in memory to generate expressions.
  • Extracted expressions: The idioms, phrasal verbs, and phrases identified from the transcript are saved to your NativeEar account. These are text strings only — no audio.
  • Usage metadata: Timestamps of recording sessions and expression save/skip actions. No meeting titles, participant names, or full transcripts are stored.

Data we do NOT collect

  • Meeting audio recordings
  • Full meeting transcripts
  • Names or identities of other meeting participants
  • Your browsing history
